Kelly Strayhorn Theater: Curated Summer 2022 Immersive Fellowship

Organization Description

Kelly Strayhorn Theater (KST) is a home for creative experimentation, community dialogue and collective action rooted in the liberation of Black and queer people. We welcome to our home all who uplift Black, Indigenous, people of color, and queer voices. We focus our services on Black women, LGBTQIA+, People of color and Emerging artists.

Named after 20th-century entertainment legends and Pittsburgh natives Gene Kelly and Billy Strayhorn, KST serves as a catalyst for creative expression that brings diverse communities together. Focusing on the performing and media arts of our time, KST takes a multidisciplinary approach to presenting contemporary performing arts while examining the questions that define and inspire us as individuals and communities. KST’s mission is realized by being one of the nation’s leading presenters of innovative works in dance, theater, music and live art; a resource for education, emerging artist support, and community partnership; a neighborhood destination for culture.

Immersive Fellowship Description

Kelly Strayhorn Theater (KST) seeks applicants for a summer 2022 Humanities Engage Immersive Fellowship. The Fellow will work closely with KST’s Marketing Manager to support the marketing department’s growing needs in the areas of digital audience engagement, rental marketing and organizational branding. As KST joins other live performance arts venues and presenters in reopening and returning to in-person programming, it is more critical now than ever that we engage with our stakeholders through strategic marketing.

The Fellow will organize, assess and survey our growing digital audience and create strategic engagements based on that data in order to support the Marketing team in cultivating relationships with new and current stakeholders including ticket buyers, artists, community members and renters.

Venue rental is a vital revenue stream for KST and an area that is rapidly approaching a return to pre-pandemic interest. The Fellow will work with KST’s Rental and Marketing teams to contribute to the development of a comprehensive rental marketing strategy, and support the teams with implementation.

This role will also support the Marketing team in creating an organizational brand book and resource binder to guide internal protocol and facilitate organizational and programmatic marketing efforts as the Fellow’s interest and experience agrees.
