ASIAN STUDIES CENTER/SCREENSHOT: ASIA: Humanities Engage Administrative Internship Summer 2022

Programming and Administration

Unit Description

The Asian Studies Center (ASC) is a global resource for research and education about Asia, as well as a regional center for building Asian connections. In partnership with over 100 affiliated faculty from across the university, we develop innovative research, foster community engagement, and create rigorous academic programming. The Center is widely recognized as one of the most comprehensive programs in Asian studies, with a focus on regional, transnational, and interdisciplinary scholarship.

The annual SCREENSHOT: Asia Film Festival will take place in September 2022, and it will host feature films, short films, and multimedia projects from Asian and Asian American artists and industries. The program includes the third Japan Documentary Film Award, which presents a prize to the best contemporary Japanese documentary, and a “SCREENSHOT: Silent Asia” multimedia performance. We will also run workshops with guest filmmakers and artists. We expect between 500-1000 students, professionals, and local community members from all over the world to attend the screenings and workshops. The 2022 theme, Inter/media, will showcase works that celebrate, fuse, or play with media forms, and will include art installations and screenings.
